Before reading this and the Painter's Daughter I would have recommended the author as I generally liked her style and books. Now I don't know what to think as the two newest books are both very similar in dealing with extra marital affairs, children out of wedlock, etc. Not that those things didn't exist in that time period but why have your two newest books about nearly the same thing. I just didn't rally behind cheating husbands, men who leave women to face the consequences, women lying and pretending to be someone they are not. I shouldn't have read either. Now to find something better to read.
