Trader of Secrets (Paul Madriani, Bk 12)

Dreadful. I'm a Madriani fan, like Steve Martini, am trying to read the whole set. But if the next one is as trite as this one I'm done. Reads like a bad screenplay complete with pauses for laughs. No character is believable, sympathetic, or even interesting. The new girlfriend never does much but chime in, "I wanna go too." Harry & Herman are misused. The daughter has turned into a cypher. It's spy stuff with no witty equipment, no imagination, no pace. The usual courtroom interest is missing of course, and the writing just sounds like Martini thinks it will be cast instantly for a blockbuster movie complete with huge explosions & car chases. Was it? I think not.
