After her grandmother died, Breanna Morgan inherited her grandmother's cabin and ownership of an old mine that had been in the family for generations. Of course, no one knows where the mine is actually located. As soon as she moves in, her cousin appears and demands that she leave. Then her new neighbor, Tyler Ross, shows up to tell her that it is dangerous for her to be out here alone. During the night, Breanna's dog warns her that there is someone outside of the cabin. Breanna refuses to abandon the claim...even when the situation turns deadly.

I believe this was Catherine Anderson's first published book. You can certainly tell that her writing has improved over the years. The storyline was ok, but the too-stupid-to-live heroine made my eyes roll. She makes up excuses about why there are men roaming her property at night. When someone tries to poison her dog, she just locks her dog in the cabin and forgets about it. While she is bathing in a cold river, a masked man threatens her with a scythe if she leaves the water. So she stays in the river for hours until hypothermia sets in. Still, Breanna won't leave the property. Just as ridiculous is her neighbor Tyler who knows what is going on and will not explain it to her. He thinks she should just blindly follow his commands with no explanation. This was definitely a 1980's book. My rating: 2 Stars.
