Pretty fast-paced story about the illegal exportation of arms and the shocking violence that accompanies it. This is not my usual reading fare, but I enjoyed the characters and the mystery. The authors weave interesting sub-plots into the mix, allowing the readers to get to know the characters a little bit better. Some of the sub-plots, however, are mere peeks into the character's past and don't provide enough detail to get a full picture of whatever happened to them. As with most books that are translations of the original, I believe there is something lost in the translation - subtleties of the culture that give context to comments made or actions taken. Nothing major, just little puzzlers here and there.

Adding to the enjoyment of the book are many references to classical violin concertos. It has certainly piqued my interest and I have spent some time on the Internet searching for some of the compositions referenced. The authors do a terrific job of describing the playing of the violin, describing it in an almost sensual way.

The book is good and will be enjoyed by those who like stories involving maniacal killers, interesting characters, and a puzzling mystery.
