I understand the times under which she wrote this book but it is such a negative commentary on not only the civil rights movement but on the black community itself. All blacks are portrayed in a negative way. Violent and bloody, drugs, rape, unmarried sex and this takes place in 1968! So sad to see a black woman make her own race so ugly. Didn't appreciate it at all.
