As a young innocent, Lily Porter was swept off her feet by handsome, seductive and faithless Travis Bolton. She had married Jim Brown without love to have a father for her child, and had tried to be a good wife to the rancher as he carved out a cattle kindom on the untamed Texas of the 1830's. But now her husband was gone. She was a woman alone, with a child to raise and a ranch to run, in a land aflame with violence and ripe for rebellion against Mexican rule.
