This was a really wonderfully written book about a man named Jacob from Chicago who is trying to find work after being fired from his bookkeeping job at a bank in the late 1890s. He has a four year old daughter Cassie and longs to help her survive. When she becomes sick, he quickly gets off a train in Homestead, Iowa where he comes across a womana from a Christian commune named Liesel.
Liesel was recently engaged to a man whom she got along with in her childhood, but wasn't truly sure of her own feelings for him, and it had never seemed like he really cared for her in that way either. She wants to do what is right according to the elders of the commune in Amana, based in Homestead. Now that she's met Jacob and Cassie, her whole world is changing before her.
I loved the character development and the various ways that the stories of each person is told. You truly get a connection with the characters and wonder, "What's going to happen next!"
Definitely one of the best Love Finds You books (I've read probably 20 or so now). This is the second Melanie Dobson book from Love Finds You and her Liberty, Indiana one was my absolute favorite, so make sure to read that one too.
