Alice Sebold does magic with metaphors. I got half-way through the book and couldn't put it down -- I needed to know what happened to the 'creepy' guy and how Susie's family coped after her death. Could definitely identify with the struggle each of the characters experienced in this book. Sebold did an excellent job of 'humanizing' them in text.
