This is one of my favorite books. John Henry Weidner was raised on the Swiss French border. His family would take Sabbath walks from France into Switzerland prior to the war. He was very athletic and an excellent hiker and skier. When World War II broke out he guided for no money many Jews to freedom and allied pilots. He was God's Superman. HE was captured 3 times and miraculously escaped. One time another captured rescuer and himself, jumped out a third story window on concrete and escaped to a priests home. Before he could take the Jews to Switzerland he had to go into Switzerland and get passports and have the World Council of churches sponsor them. That made his helping the refugees doubly dangerous. I do not believe that he feared danger. He followed God wherever he led him. This man was the head of the Dutch- French Resistance. The Gestapo put a 5 million franc Bounty on John Weidner's head.
