This story, the first of three, is a delight. Carla Kelly writes Regency stories like no one else. All three of the books are well worth the reader's time.

Eleanor Massie is the illegitimate daughter on a Lord of the Admiralty. Since he tried to get her to become the mistress of someone to whom he was indebted to, Nana has called a down-trodden Plymouth inn home. She lives with her grandmother.

Oliver Worthy planned to stay at the Massie inn only long enough to report back to Lord Radcliffe (Nana's father). However, Oliver is an intelligent captain who senses that there is more to the story -- and he wants to know what it is.

The pages fly by because the characters are so engaging and the reader really cares about them. An absolute treasure of a story.
