This is the first book by Monica Burns that I've read. I enjoyed the book and gave it 3 out of 4 stars on my rating system. This is a love story of a courtesan and her new lover and he happens to be several years her junior. Both the hero and heroine have problems entering into and sustaining this relationship, but as always, everything works out in the end.

I was pleased with the enter story, good character development in a well-rounded, believable plot. I did feel the hero belabored his 'problem' to the point where I almost felt like telling him to get over it already! But he did have good reason for his feelings, so I'll give it to him. While the heroine had valid reason for her actions and feelings, thinking on this same subject in the 21st century...it's a non-issue. Back in 1897 England, it would and did cause talk and harmful gossip and gossip seemed to be her greatest concern. Considering her lifestyle, it seemed a bit over the top to worry so much about what 'the set' said or thought about her.

I will consider reading other books by Miss Burns...in fact, looking over my library, I find I have one of her ebooks titled 'Rogue in Disguise'. It's a short novelette, so I guess I'll pull that out soon to give it a read!
