When psychologist Martin Obler accepts as a patient a disturbed young man who is having violent dreams, he grows more and more uneasy when he learns about a recent series of murders, the grizzly details of which sound horrifyingly familiar. As Obler enters the mind of this madman, he finds himself caught in a terrifying web of manipulation, deceit and increasing certainty that his patient is a serial killer.
