This brief children's book (72 pages, largish print, many color illustrations) is a well-written story about a part of Depression history that many people don't know - the march to Washington of World War I veterans to get the bonuses promised to them but put off by Congress. The makeshift encampment, the demonstrations and the violent breakup of the encampment by soldiers are all seen through the eyes of musically talented nine year-old Jimmy, who has accompanied his veteran father. Recommended for elementary school age.
