This is the first in the series featuring blind sculptor Mo Bowdre. I found his character a little hard to get into, but he is kind of intriguing; I liked how his girlfriend is having some conflicts between her two cultures. Because Mo is blind, he of course pays more attention to his other senses, and that gives him a valuable clue to solve the murder. I didn't guess the murderer although in retrospect there are clues.
There are quite a few pages devoted to an unlikeable character using lots of profanity. Didn't bother me but might bug others. I liked the FBI agent Collins quite a bit. I think I'll get the next in the series to see how it progressed.
