Book Review of Your Body's Many Cries for Water: You Are Not Sick, You Are Thirsty: Don't Treat Thirst With Medications

reviewed Interesting and oddly homophobic on + 20 more book reviews

I read this book twice. Once, it did not have the homophobic chapter on AIDS that it randomly has inserted now (must have been an earlier edition). The chapter about AIDS is without any linkage to the rest of the text andalso has nothing to do with dehydration. It is just filled with talk of "normal" sexual activity contrasted with "unnatural rectal sexual urges" made me cringe. It also made me discount such a biased view of human sexuality as basically unscientific. This made me think the rest of what Dr Batmangelidj had to say just might also be bunk. Overall, the ist time I read it, I enjoyed it very much. The second time (with the addition of a non-sequitur chapter full of homophobic morbid assumptions about AIDS being some sort of gay problem in nature)I found the author's credibility shot.
