Orphan Annja Creed has no idea who her parents are so when destiny drops Joan of Arc's sword into her hands, she's very interested in where she came from. To support her archeology "hobby", Annja investigates strange happenings for a television show. During one such investigation, the Beast of Gevaudan - supposedly a werewolf - she incurs the wrath of French gangster Corvin Lesauvage. The ensuing high-jinxes are rather dangerous for Annja but entertaining for the reader. I enjoyed Annja's adventures and because she made as many enemies as allies, her further endeavors should be very interesting.

In reading any action book where the lead is female, you have to suspend your beliefs. Come on is it really possible for a female (trained or not) to take on multiple assassins and win? Gimme a break but it makes for good reading. I read these books strictly for entertainment purposes. I particularly liked the 80 year old ninja nun.
