I know is a little passé, but this book is so much better than the movie in so many levels, and the movie was good. The extravaganza of the whole time period is amusingly described and have to say Mr. Bruce Porter knows his subject matter, certainly done quite a bit of research to write this book.
There are many books from the colombian cartels and the good ones are spellbinding, and for some weird reason, they do not seem to grow too old to not want to read.
The money, of course, is crazy, and the protagonist there is no other way to describe as being at the right place at the right time.
I was happily surprised with the reading value of this book, because like I said, I thought I had read most of what was out there, the good and the bad.
Actually the movie takes a wide berth from sticking to what really happened, but that's got to be hollywood for you, with Mr. Depp, none the less, as the leading role.
The book is better. For those who like these kind of books there is no negative aspects to the book. 4.5 Stars
