Dr. Drew Nichols is in San Francisco to take part in a wedding that he has been dreading. It's his ex-girlfriend's wedding and Drew doesn't have a date. But when he gets stuck in the hotel elevator with Alexa Monroe and enjoys her company, he asks her if she will be his date for the weekend's festivities. Alexa isn't the spontaneous type, but she accepts anyway. Drew and Alexa have fun together, both at the rehearsal dinner and the wedding itself. As they drink and dance at the reception, the fun evening turns into a night of romance when they return to his hotel room. But in the morning, Drew must return to Los Angeles and his job as a pediatric surgeon. Disappointed that they had such a short time together, Drew asks Alexa if she will fly to Los Angeles to spend next weekend with him.

Drew makes it clear to Alexa that he does not do long-term relationships. Therefore, as Alexa begins to fall for him, she keeps waiting for Drew to decide to break it off with her. Of course, Drew is falling for Alexa and can't understand why she starts to pull away from him.

This was a cute contemporary romance, but I'm afraid I needed a little more plot. I liked both Drew and Alexa, but one sex scene after another made the story drag. I believe this Jasmine Guillory's debut novel. Since I liked the characters, I'll give her another shot. My rating: 3 Stars.
