Stacey Ballis=SB, the author, is a foodie from Chicago, that is BFFS with Jen Lancaster, another author you might know. Her books are different from JLs but some of the same scathing wit, and love of Chicago shines through.

I really dont care for romance books, with all that silly yearning burning stuff. This book has the classic chick lit, clique: girl loses her job, her place to live, and her boyfriend in one day. She retains her BFFs, hits rock bottom and finds herself. But this book did better than a clique, it really had some fun elements. The main character is a short red head, who remodels and restores houses. So there is a lot of HGTV going on, plus some great cooking.
This book also had it deep moments. And of course a Dog, there is always a dog.

I think this book was worth my time to read. It is long 455 pages, and I would not have minded it being longer.

No smoldering love scenes for those you want it or dont want it, there are no sex scenes.
