Normally not a book I would pick up but it was one of the library's One Book Maryland read. So glad I tried it. Was a bit undecided at the beginning. Set in Viet Nam - novel of love, war and resistance in post-WW II Vietnam. Depicts the struggles, misery, determination, conscription of the Viet people thru the years. At times a very difficult read (torture, violence), but an underlying love of country and family.
