As the reluctant director of Farberville's own Miss Thurberfest Beauty Pagent, Claire Malloy has more than enough problems with baton twirlers, monotonal vocalists, dog tricks, and general mischief among the 18 girls vying for the coveted crown. Last year's reigning queen seems to be a sweet, vivacious young thing, and Claire is bewildered when it becomes increasingly clear someone is stalking the girl.....
