Good Dirt, like Charmaine Wilkerson's debut Black Cake, covers a lot of ground. At the center of the story is Ebony "Ebby" Freeman. Ebby's story is about coming to terms with her past and forging a path forward. The Freeman's story is being the only Black family in a neighborhood and of their son's brutal death. Old Mo's story is of past generations, of slavery, of defiance, and of a journey to freedom. Another wonderful story by the author.
