The world building in this novel, and the writing style, is extremely reminiscent of Simon R. Green's Nightside series. If you enjoy that series, you will enjoy this one too.
I thought it was a competent effort at a zombie detective novel, but not that great. I wanted to like it more than I actually did.
I have since read other reviews of this book and the only thing I can think is that other reviewers have not been familiar with Green's Nightside series already when they read this. It really is quite similiar, enough so I did not feel that Nekropolis had anything unique about it that I haven't already read in the Nightside.
