This novel is filled with suspense as Nina stalks and befriends an unsuspecting Emma for an undisclosed reason. Their individual points of view about their evolving relationship are well written, demonstrating their separate family dynamics and personalities with ease. I found the conclusion to be mystifying - so much energy and hatred expended on a seemingly trivial incident. There is no doubt that Harriet Lane can write very well, but the plot's ending didn't fulfill its early promise. I am grateful to LibraryThing for the opportunity to read this book as part of its Early Reviewers' program.
