This is disturbing as hell but wow what a book. All the brutal things serial killers do to their victims don't bother me or cause me to stop reading but I had to put this one down twice just to get something else into my head. The psychological torture that is used by psychiatrists at the sanitarium is beyond inhumane. The "killer" is camoflauged throughout the entire book and there are three possible suspects...all very similar and creepy. This killer is preying on kids who are already in therapy for their shitty childhoods and he is using their own fears against them. A really sad book and though it is really well-written, it makes you cross psychotherapy off your list of therapy options. Psychotherapy is definitely not something I will could ever allow done to me, especially after reading this book.

Claire Morgan is a tortured soul (though not a patient at this hospital). As a cop, she has seen and done many things that allow the killer to draw her in and use her. The references to her past have made me want to read the previous book [book:Head To Head|1399096] where she met Black (her boyfriend) and solves a mystery which isn't psychological in nature.
