This is a delightfully entertaining story of a young nurse midwife in Hope Springs with a high contingent of the Amish folks. Nurse Amber takes pride in her work and thoroughly enjoys bringing babies into the world for the Amish women. Her physician boss of several years Harold encounters a misfortune and has his grandson Dr. Philip White staff the office practice in his absence. It gets very interesting when Amber wishes to continue her mid-wifery practice while Dr. White who is a cutting edge physician fresh in from Hawaii does not approve of out-of-hospital birthing. This book is a very pleasant melting of the Old World and the reality most of us know. This books holds your interest from cover to cover. Just when you think you have the plot figured out - just know you'll never guess the resolve. Patricia does a great job in describing some of the scenery, the wonderful meals and does a sheer heartwarming job in describing the romantic scenes. This is one of those books that exudes the warm and fuzzy feeling in a clean and entertaining fashion. I highly recommend this book; and the cost is a true bargain. The Amish baby on the cover drew me to the book.
