The earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact. Most of humanity is lost. Everyone is perfect. There is no violence. Wanderer, the invading "soul" has been given the body of Melanie Stryder.Wanderer understood the challenges of living inside a human. However, she did not expect the strength of Melanie's refusal to "leave" her body. Bombarded with the overwhelming emotions and too vivid memories Wanderer begins on a journey to becoming exactly what he has invaded.

The Host was a moving story. It began a little slow and I thought I was not going to like it at all. The first 100 pages didn't catch me. Suddenly I couldn't put the book down. I read it in 2 1/2 days. This book is inventive and fascinatingly clever. Stephanie Meyer has the ability to weave together a story that feels so real. It is a gripping and unforgettable tale of love, and not just romantic love. A love that transcends all species. A love that garners hope.
