Summary:
Sera and Ariel used to be best friends. However, they are currently fighting. This would be fine, except Sera's mother forces her to go to Ariel's birthday party. This party is going to be the ULTIMATE party. Everyone is going to be there and there will be a rock star performing. Did I forget to mention that everyone is super rich? Regardless, at the party bad guys take over and hold everyone hostage at gunpoint. They want to kidnap Ariel's father. Ariel escapes into the wall (hence, the title). The gunmen don't like the fact that she is missing and start to kill off hostages (classmates and friends possibly?). Ariel has to deal with figuring out if she should stay hiding while others are dying or if she should give herself up. Sera has to figure out if she is going to tell the gunmen where Ariel is. Both girls tell their own story chapter by chapter.
My thoughts:
This is a book that grabs you and doesn't let you go. I've had several students tell me that they read it in one sitting, and I can definitely see that. The book never stops moving. It is exactly like an action movie. You go in just for the fun of it and the story doesn't disappoint. Both girls grow a lot throughout the book. Ariel begins to look beyond her shallow viewpoint and think about more than herself. Sera begins to see other people's perspective and breaks out of her shyness/closed off shell. I like the back and forth between each of the girls. It reminds me of movies that allow you to see what's going on in two different places. There are a ton of twists which add to the mystery of what is going on and overall the heart pumping adrenaline doesn't end. If you are an action/suspense movie fan, you'll love this book!
