I was surprised, because I really liked Mind the Gap, the preceding book -- but I didn't enjoy this book enough to keep reading after a couple of chapters. I didn't care for the protagonist and there weren't relationships I cared even a little bit about, the devastation of Katrina in New Orleans did not seem magical, as a setting.
