Got this book from the local library's "free" rack. Never read any of the author's books before. I think this would be classified as a "beach" read--something fast and light. The book certainly fits the bill in that regard. It's told in the first person. The main character is Faith Frankel, who works in the gifts department at a small private school. She's in her early 30s and engaged to Stuart, a flaky guy who was on a walking trek across the country. Faith finally comes to her senses and ditches Stu (but one wonders what she saw in him in the first place--she wasn't a naive teen when she started dating him).
The story is pretty lightweight. The baby photos Faith finds in the house she just bought suggest a mystery. There is a rather surprising twist to the resolution of that. Ditto with the idea that the previous owner, Anna Lavoie (now in her 90s and in a care facility) killed two of her husbands in the house. Faith's new romance with a co-worker moves at lightning speed which seems a bit unbelievable.
The "bones" of the story are good but there just isn't much "meat" to it. But, if you're looking for a quick, light read, this would fit the bill.
