The synopsis (and title) do not do this book justice. Sharon has woven a remarkable story full of intricate characters, breathtaking adventure and intrigue. Viper, or Eros as he is called in the book, doesn't actually want to claim his birthright (although he is haunted by it) until Alanis shows him it is the only way to stop running from his past. The trust and love is slowly developed between the two characters - both of whom are strong, but not without flaws. The sacrifices made in the name of love (and not just by the main characters) truly reflects the authenticity of the writing. You believe every word and feel everything along with the characters. Seriously, I could not put this book down - read it in one sitting and was ready to go again. It is definitely a keeper!
