Although this is the culmination of this series, it did not speak to me like the previous two books. It was hard to get into (yet I began this book eagerly). The premise was so wild and unbelievable that I had difficulty with it. Another problem was Zambak Hayden, the heroine. She was totally out of control, without a modicum of controlled behavior.
The story was interesting, despite the wild behavior of Zambak. Charles' behavior toward a dying Julia was satisfying. She treated him cruelly, yet Charles cared for her as she became more desperately ill. I was surprised that he left without burying the body. This was a disappointing end to the (otherwise) excellent series. Overall score = G+.
