This is the second Lupe S. mystery I've read and to me it is much better than "Bitter Sugar." There are several places in this book where the author seems to repeat herself (perhaps in an effort to stretch pages)but it doesn't detract too much from the story. The plot is a bit far-fetched, yet she seems to make it work. If you are looking for insights into Cuban/American politics there is a little of that as well.
