

The setting starts out at the palace of the Emperor of China in the 15th Century. Pong Lo, a farmer's son, employed as a worker is set out to prove that he could make as fine a prince that China ever saw! The farmer's son did asked the Emperor for his daughter's hand in marriage and was denied because he was only a farmer's son. However, the farmer's son was reward with something else. He requested a grain of rice... the Emperor laughed. The Pong Lo says if you wish, you can double the grain of rice for 100 days.
