This book was a pleasant read, but nothing particularly special. Without spoiling any plot details, the hero had a few too many convenient escapes to enable any suspension of disbelief, and there were no particularly original plot devices used. Though the story mentions both Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots, the reader doesn't actually see much of either of them, so fans seeking those 2 personas will want to look elsewhere.
