Second Corinthians is one of Paul's most emotional letters. It was written in the crucible of his heart as he suffered for the church in Corinth. Paul had started the Corinthian church on his second missionary journey. The church had experienced several internal problems of factions, immorality, and theological misunderstandings. Previous letters had not accomplished their desired results.
Thus, Paul's apostolic authority was under attack. This letter was Paul's explanation and defense of his ministry. It also contained his call to the Corinthian Christians to give to the collection for the Jerusalem Christians.
You will be challenged to examine your own concepts and motives for ministry. Your understanding of stewardship, motivation for stewardship, and practice of giving will be challenged and changed. Paul's commission that you need to accept and carry out.
