If James Michener were writing a story about the Outback of Australia, this is the way he would write it. Rich in detail, authentic in plot, and illuminated with history, OUTBACK tells the story of the settling of Australia's wild central vastness by the cast-offs, ex-convicts, and immigrants who could endure the solitude of outback existence. The story follows an Englishman from a Sydney debtor's prison to work on sheep stations as a drover to an alliance with a strong-willed Aborigine woman who helped him build and fight for his own station in the far outback, destined to become one of the largest enterprises in the country. If you enjoy historical fiction, are intrigued by Australia, or simply like a good, well-told story, you will enjoy this Aaron Fletcher creation.
