Twelfth in the series, and probably better if you've read a few others, although Griffiths drops in some pretty good background to catch up a new reader. I zipped through this in one day, liked the mystery, loved catching up with almost all the familiar characters, snorted at the funny bits... Ienjoy these books not only for the puzzle but for the tangles that Nelson and Ruth have made of their lives. I like the relationships between all the characters too (hmmm what's going on with Judy?). I didn't guess the villain, actually I had someone else entirely in mind. Loved the folklore about the Lantern Men. But - I don't think this is a spoiler - I would like Cathbad to be wrong once in a while. Now it will be a long wait for the next one.
