Book four in Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark (IAD) series we meet Conrad Wroth, the long missing Wroth brother. He's a vampire in blood lust meaning he's been drinking blood from the source. Imprisoned by his brothers who are trying to rehabilitate him, he meets Neomi, a ghost who inhabits the house in which he's trapped.

While the basics of this story, and even the characters, are fairly similar to Cole's other books, she gives this story a unique situation. As the heroine is a ghost, the characters are unable to act on any lust or sexual interest - not even a kiss as she has no corporeal form. It takes their longing for each other to another level and while there are some sexy scenes, no real sex scenes happen until quite late in the book.

All that said, I'm on my second reading of the series and both of these characters were fairly forgettable for me. I enjoyed the story as much the second time as the first, but when thinking on the series, this couple doesn't stand out for me. And as with Black Dagger Brotherhood/JR Ward books, I am not in love with the notion of a ghost as a major romantic character.
