"Little attention has been paid to the impact of stress on the ultimate profession, Motherhood. Few observers, and very few mothers themselves, seem to recognize the validity of motherhood stress. Nor do they see the many distinct parallels between all the job stress research and the work of any mother.

This book gives voice to those in the throes of motherhood stress. Deborah Lewis, herself the mother of 5 children, shares her own experience and those of countless other mothers she's talked to, young and old, rich and poor, single and married, at-home moms and those with outside careers, from mothers of one to mothers of nine, about the many stresses which parallel other jobs plus the unique stresses of motherhood.

The result is a warm, honest, readable book which paints a sobering and realistic, yet encouraging and hopeful, picture of the tough challenges and great rewards in store for all those who answer the high call of motherhood."
