One of the things I found intriguing about this story was that Elizabeth is a doctor. Not only is she setting up a new practice in a new town, but she must battle discrimination in a profession that is largely dominated by men. As she becomes friends with Jason, she also begins to question her assumption that her profession excludes her from having love and a family of her own. I thought that the author explored that in a pleasing way.
