Not for everyone. Barker has taken an intriguing idea for a horror novel -- an enchanted (or damned) room transported from Romania to a 1920s Hollywood mansion -- and larded it up to a 600+-page behemoth with a triple-X rating.
The plot revolves around a self-centered pretty-boy actor whose cosmetic procedure goes bad and is looking for someplace secluded to hide out while the damage heals. The Coldheart Canyon estate looks ideal, but what he doesn't know is that it's already occupied by a host of ghosts, demons, and halflings.
