This book started out a little slow for me but once I got into it I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is set in Kentucky in the mid 1930's and the story centers around Olivia who has not had an easy life. The story brings to light the struggles of the depression, prejudice, and segregation at that time in our country. It also focuses on love of family and a mystery to solve. There are some twists and turns in the story and the last 100 pages deliver a suspense filled ending. The story is compelling, surprising and enjoyable.
