I really like this book and thought that it was a good continuation to the Without A Trace series, however, I felt like the author did not read "Framed" (the previous book). In "Cold Case Murder" Agent Sam Pierce refers to Jocelyn as his fiancee the whole way through, but at the end of "Framed" Sam and Jocelyn were married and Sam was called away from his wedding reception to investigate because they had found the two bodies at the abandoned house. For this reason I could not rate this book any higher because of those inconsistencies. I also felt that there should have been more character development on Ava Renault and Maz Pershings. "Framed" went to great lengths of working through their past and ironing out all of the issues between them just to leave us high and dry in "Cold Case Murder". Ava was only mentioned one time and Max wasn't mentioned at all, except in a conversation where a character was reminded that he was freed of the murder charges brought against him. Hopefully the other books in the series will continue to develop their characters. Overall, I would recommend this book to a friend and if you didn't want to read the whole series this could be read as a stand alone book.
