This book is about Gesine (sister to Sandra Bullock) leaving her life as a Hollywood publicist and becoming a baker in Vermont. But, really, it is a love letter to following your muse. The way she talks about baking, despite it being hard and time-consuming to own/operate a bakery, made me do a double check to be sure that I am following my passion in life.
The book is arranged in short chapters that correspond to a time of day at the bakery. Each chapter concludes with a recipe for something that she makes in the bakery.
My favorite part of this book was the reminiscing about her mother, who died from cancer. Each time she writes about her mom it is clearly out of a heart of love and I cannot help but think that her mom is smiling down on her.
A fast read and one to enjoy.
