This is a horror story about vampires. College students volunteer to take part in a genetics study group. The injections they receive are supposed to enhance their abilities and cure all of their ailments. Unknown to them, one side effect is they become a vampire creature. I really liked this book. I didn't really know what to expect next, and the suspense kept me reading. The ending is left very wide open though, so that one really has to read the next book to find out what happens. I will be reading the next one The Vampire Within:New Blood. I am compelled to see how it plays out. This is supposed to be a trilogy, but the 3rd book has not yet been released.
