On his first major mission with the covert Peacekeepers organization, Aidan Colbert must kill a man for treason. His patriotism demanded this much of him, and it should have been easy. Unfortunately his targets 12-year-old step-daughter arrives at home moments after the death, seeing Aidan in the room. He leaves her there alive, but must live with the memory of the look in her eyes from that day forward.

Now 27, Caroline McGuire has just lost her mother and inherited the house where Preston was killed. In the process of readying the house to sell, she finds a key with a note saying that it will lead to Prestons killer. From the moment, Carolines life is in danger. Fletcher, her step-brother, hires a bodyguard.

Unbeknownst to Caroline, Wolfe, aka Aiden Colbert, has been her secret benefactor since that long ago night. Now, if he can just keep her safe from whoever wants her silencedand from himself.
