After getting dumped, Jared (his attorney) persuades her ex to give the back the engagement ring to pay off debts left by the wedding- that never happened. He chooses his family's house to give the ring back. Now the family thinks they're engaged. As a divorce attorney, he swears he would never marry so why doesn't he want the charade to end.
