Plots involving family curses usually are my least favorite romance trope because for me it's a hard bit of nonsense to swallow, however, this one affecting Laird Hunt MacLarin is accomplished with believable flair. Plenty of emotional depth to sink your teeth into to satisfy romantic cravings, while a juicy little lie creates major hurdles for Clara and Hunt. I thought for sure an ex-fiance would cause more waves so as to add dangerous spice into the mix, but he was written off a little too quickly to my disappointment. However, navigating the shoals of haves/can't haves makes this lovable couple's quest in beating the curse worthwhile. 3.5 stars.
