Book Review of False Gods (Horus Heresy, Bk 2)

False Gods (Horus Heresy, Bk 2)

Since I'm a big fan of the 40k universe, I was able to plow through the book. I was hoping to get a more personal perspective on the corruption of the Luna Wolves, but it seems more like a montage sequence where each snippet leaps ahead a few months or a year. Instead of grappling with the asartes' emotional turmoil (after the moral tipping point), I merely get "Marine X is more violent than he used to be. Marine Y is more prideful." And instead of meaty character development where the minds of these warriors are eroding, I merely get "there were banners hanging in the room, which I didn't recognize." Out of the frigging blue. Horus isn't 3-dimensional, heck most of the character's aren't 3-dimensional, the plot is predictable.
I'm glad the next book is written by a different author.
